What you get when a bunch of people who grew up during the 80s watching WWF on Saturday afternoons and started listening to punk rock in the 90s get together to create their own brand of this mixture of sports and theatre. Smells like B.O. and Old Spice.

Bytowne Blackhearts
Ottawa’s roller derby team, the Bytowne Blackhearts, recently celebrated their first anniversary. I spent some time with them at a practice a few weeks ago and thought I’d share a few of those images. Still not sure where this is headed but it should be cool. The sport appears to be pretty complex so if anything, I hope that by the time all is said and done, I’ve learned how it all works.
