exhibition and party

If you are in Ottawa, check out these three wicked events this weekend.

1. Photos I took in Canadian (arctic) and the southern United States will be up at Wurm Gallery until January 14, 2009. The vernissage is this Friday, December 12. from 7pm-midnight. Come say hello, wont you? Tomorrow at about 5:20pm, I’ll also be on Mitchell Caplan’s institution of a community radio show CLICK HEAR on CHUO 89.1FM talking about my photos and Foucault and other stuff. Thanks a lot to Nick and Jodie at Wurm for hosting this for me!

2.  Redbull Wax Museum! Kind of cool…Redbull and Norml Clothing will be exhibiting a collection of art created using records as a canvas. My submission involves an old copy of New Order’s Low Life and also an Israeli musician that is appropriately quite like Ian Curtis (mixed with Elvis). The works will be up from Saturday, December 13 until Sunday, January 11 and sold in a silent auction. 50% of the proceeds will go towards the All 4 Da Kidz Foundation that offers resources to local youth drop-in centres. I’m excited to see everyone else’s submission…I think they’ve come in from all over North America.

At the opening of this exhibit, J-Rocc (Beat Junkies) will perform and an all-45 set and I’ll have a photobooth set up in the window display.  Should be hilarious.

PS: I have two tickets to give away for this. Comment or email me something awesome (stories, photos, gift cards…) and they can be yours.

3. Norml Xmas Party!  This will be the afterparty for the Redbull Wax Museum on Saturday, December 13. It’ll be going down at Babylon and featuring J-Rocc, The Rub and Stylusts (and me taking photos). This event is FREE if you go to Norml and donate an old winter jacket. Their goal is to collect 250 jackets to distribute to drop in centres in Ottawa. Amazing DJs. Good cause. Cannot go wrong.
