Stache Bash 2011!
Back for a fourth year, I shot portraits at Mustaches for Kids Ottawa’s Stache Bash on Friday, December 2.
The group raised an awesome $25,000 for the Children’s Wish Foundation during their month long fund raiser. Huge congrats! Last year they broke their all time fundraising total of $100,000 and now they’re climbing up to $200,000.
Some pretty sweet staches this year as always. Click the image below for the full gallery!!!
Photos from the road
Two of these photos are part of an exhibit I currently have up at a new gallery in Ottawa called Fall Down.
Please go have a look. I have photos up there that aren’t in this post. The gallery is at 288 Bank Street near Somerset. The vernissage was last Sunday and a million people were there. Thanks to everyone who came and all the new friends I made.
Alexandria Ice Fishing Derby
Great weekend east of Ottawa. Spent a few hours on a frozen pond with a friend I hadn’t seen in a year and about 1000 other people. Big ups Best Western Cornwall and its kingsize mattresses and bedside jacuzzi.
Here are a few photos. More can be seen on my Flickr.

BONUS: Here’s a photo of me working last weekend in Prescott, Ontario. I’m the dude on the ground shooting video of some re-enactors. Spring is coming.

New year! New photos!
So, bonne année tout le monde.
Boom! Changed a few things up on my site! See some new/old/different photos in one of three new sections

For example, this photo I shot in 2007

Or this shot from 2009

A lot has changed since August. It has been rather exciting! Get in touch if you are curious for more. Otherwise, more photos on this blog to come. Thanks to everyone who has been along for the ride!
Until then, follow me on Twitter if you get down like that. A lot of non-photography content goes there.
Stache Bash 2010 photobooth gallery
For the third year in a row, I shot portraits at Mustaches for Kids Ottawa’s Stache Bash on December 3. It’s always a great unofficial pre-Christmas party. No converging Santa pub crawl this year though. That was an amazing sight in 2009.
Anyway, the group raised an awesome $30,000 for the Children’s Wish Foundation during their month long fund raiser. Huge congrats!

My faves will be making it into my La Moustache collection.
3D Frenzy!
For a number of reasons, I’ve pretty much bowed out of party photography in these past few months.
Still, I recently was invited to take 3D photos at an event co-presented by Artengine and could not say no!
To get this done, I had the option of using a nice & compact Fuji W3 3D camera or attempt rigging a pair of digital SLRs. Not sure which would have been easier in the end but the images I created came from two Canon 5D Mark 2s with 50mm 1.4 lenses and one 580EX flash.
It’ll be fun to play around with the Fuji camera once I get a new computer. MPO files are a funny thing.

Also, I helped a bit in making this rad stop motion video during the Electric Fields Maker Faire. Have a look! It’s only 30 seconds. The part where the cars drive up the building? Yea…that was me for a bit. Neato. Thanks to Megan for involving people in this fun activity!
!!!
Tell it to my bacon.
Sacha Gabriel is a cute local music person (singer, rapper, producer, dancer) with sharp vision and a great sense of humour to boot. We got together in July to shoot some photos. Watch out for her.

Blogging for Artengine
This week, Artengine is presenting the Electric Fields festival in Ottawa and I’m lucky enough to be doing documentation and blogging for the festival. Read and see more at artengine.ca/blog.
Here are a few photos from the first two nights.

If you’re in Ottawa, come to Babylon tonight. There is an interactive 3D party where I’ll be taking 3D photos of people! (you?)
Halloween portraits revisited & upcoming group show
Halloween’s coming so I just posted a small selection of Halloween portraits I shot and exhibited last year at La Petite Mort in Ottawa.
Maybe some of you weren’t at the exhibit or have not yet seen the video.
If so, you should clickity click and look at the selections I’ve shared with the Interwebs.
Here’s a preview that I may or may not have posted sometime last year.

Also, on November 6, I’ll have a piece up in a fundraiser for Médecins sans frontières. Come and say hi. Next week, after Halloween, I’ll also be pretty bizzz with Electric Fields festival – taking photos for Artengine and blogging for Apt613, I think!
Did I mention I have a dayjob now too? More on that & hybrid vehicles another time.
Until then, please read the blog on NPAC.ca.
Montreal Molson Alley
Currently somewhere in the U.S.A. Not far from NYC but still not much to post on Foursquare about. No stable cell phone reception for this Canuck to post from anyway.
En tout cas, I’m back where I was in March. Progress is slow but good.
In the spirit of things I did in March, here are a few photos I took in and around an alley next to the Molson brewery in Montréal when I went to see some bands. I hung around there for a little over an hour between this big rehearsal space and the beer factory. A sensory experience if I ever had one. Guitars & yeast in quantities that exceed bar levels of each.
Next blog post will feature some highlights from the blog I edit for the News Photographers Association of Canada. Sometimes I post on Twitter about the blog but if you don’t follow that, the next post will be especially worthwhile. It’s a fun gig and I feel lucky to have gotten a great group of people to share a bit of themselves on it.
